Usually ships in 24 hours | | | The Queens Giveth! | One of the dark horses from the `Songs For The Deaf` CD, `First It Giveth` builds tensions with Dave Grohl`s frenetic drumming and Josh Homme`s awesome guitar work. This is one of the heaviest songs from the album, especially the chorus, yet Homme`s vocals are light in contrast. It`s an excellent track that should be listened to loud! The first b-side `Wake Up Screaming` (a Subhumans` cover) is sung /screamed by Nick Oliveri, that takes you on a 5 minute trip from restrained (by Queens` standards) melody to outright punk. It rocks! The second b-side is `The Most Exhalted Potentate Of Love` (a `The Cramps` cover)is a rollicking adventure as Homme`s vocals (remeniscent of Iggy Pop) collide with hardcore surf guitars (and an evil final laugh) to pound your ears for 2 and a half minutes! The `First It Giveth` video is a collection of live outtakes from Queens` concerts, and features Nick`s naked onstage antics in full force. It`s cool to see the guys hanging out, and to se their live capabilities. Anyone who has seen the Queens Of The Stone Age play knows what I mean! Hopefully they can release an uncut live video soon (even though past clips like `Feel Good Hit Of The Summer`, `Monsters In The Parasol`, `No One Knows`, and `Go With The Flow` are quite possibly the best videos made in the last decade!). If you`re a fan, pick this up, because the b-sides are decent recordings, and worth what you pay. | | | -- zzzz |
